WELCOME

The Sarah McLachlan Foundation was established in 2000 to share the transformative power of music with children and youth from under-resourced populations. Our primary purpose is to provide The Sarah McLachlan School of Music (SoM) with its annual operational funding so that all students can attend at no cost.

The School offers cognitive, social and mental health benefits that enable students to build confidence, grow self-esteem, increase accomplishment, and generate agency.

"I can honestly say music saved my life. Because of that, I’m proud to offer our students the opportunity to receive
great music education combined with mentorship, in a safe environment where they can be themselves and explore who they are”

- Sarah McLachlan, Founder and Board Chair

“This is a music school but it’s also a family.
We all look out for each other; we’re all trying to better each other”

- Seven, SoM alumni & current staff member

WAYS TO SUPPORT

One Time & Monthly Gifts

Your one-time or recurring monthly gift will support the greatest needs of SoM. This means you’ll be helping young people to develop creatively, to positively connect with their peers, and to gain the self-confidence they need to thrive in all areas of life.

Tribute Gifts

Honour someone special in your life by recognizing them with a tribute gift and share gratitude for their impact on your life by paying it forward. You’ll have the option to send a notification their way to celebrate.

Gifts In-Kind

We appreciate the thoughtfulness of donors who wish to give a non-cash product or service. Please contact Dan Cleland to discuss mutually beneficial options. For a GIK tax receipt, a receipt or independent appraisal is required to establish fair market value. All appraisals are conducted at the expense of the donor.

We are not currently accepting any musical instruments.

Planned Gifts

A Planned Gift is a powerful way to make an impact while helping you to achieve your philanthropic goals. Gifts can be made today or deferred to maximize your tax and financial benefits. Options include leaving a bequest in your will, transferring securities, or adding a beneficiary to your life insurance, RRSP, RRIF or TFSA. We encourage you to seek the advice of your own financial and legal counsel. Please contact Dan Cleland for more information.
